description:
An icy cold but beautiful day in the snowy mountains of the lower Carneddau. The walk that we planned to finish in five hours had to be shortened drastically as thick snowdrifts made progress unbelievably slow. We cut out two peaks just below the summits to save time, but still ended up on dangerous, unconsolidated snow that hid treacherous ankle-snapping sinks into streams below, as we headed down into the Aber valley in near darkness. Lessons to be learned for sure.
